Libertarian Party Platform Committee: Vegas 2009

12/17/2009

They came they saw they…well they at least met! After the conclusion of the meeting the following applies, the Independent Political Report says, “The 2010 Libertarian Party Platform Committee met in Las Vegas on Dec. 12-13 and adopted a relatively modest set of 24 recommendations to the current “greatest hits” platform that the LP assembled in 2008 from language chosen from nine previous LP platforms.”

Now what are these 24 recommendations and how will they affect the Libertarian Party line? Some of them include re-writing several passages, as well as a few minor additions all of which can be seen at this location, 2010 LP Platform as Recommended by PlatCom in Vegas. Many of the changes were simply grammatical or word variations meant to clarify intent. Others may have had a more serious reason behind them.

So now we wait for the Libertarian National Convention, “the 24 Recommendations, if not modified by PlatCom at their pre-convention meeting, must be separately approved by 2/3 votes of the delegates to the May 2010 convention in St. Louis.”

What will the outcome be, thanks for tuning in again…
