Gospel Rescue Mission Volunteer Project
4550 S. Palo Verde Rd.; Tucson, AZ 85714

Gospel Rescue Mission is 100% privately funded (and does not accept any government money). It is the Managing Partner of the Center of Opportunity a collaborative campus comprised of over 50 nonprofits and volunteer service partners bringing solutions and hope to those experiencing homelessness. Gospel Rescue Mission provides not only food and shelter for anyone in need but also year long programs to get people into jobs and homes and away from lives of addiction. Despite their Christian message and mission, there is no requirement of any participant to be Christian or to participate in any religious activities.

While libertarians understand (or should understand) the difference between being a voluntaryist and being a volunteer, part of the voluntaryist philosophy inherently includes humanitarian outreach. Society is greater than government. Government is not our caretaker . Libertarians don’t expect “the government” to care for the downtrodden, the sick, the homeless, the addicts.

The values of individual freedom, personal sovereignty, private property, and voluntary exchange are held in the pursuit of a just and convivial world. These principles will never in themselves eliminate mental and physical disabilities, poverty, addiction, personal traumas, etc. In our envisioned world of limited (or eliminated) government, such human needs are tended to by other, more able fellow humans.

This opportunity to volunteer is being facilitated with the host county Libertarians of Pima County. The Sunday service options are all kitchen related:

6:00-8:00 breakfast.
8:00-11 :00 lunch prep.
11:00-1:00 lunch.
1:00-4 :00 dinner prep.

Please RSVP ahead of time, because they sometimes fill up. (Breakfast volunteers are usually the most needed.)
Call or email Lucy Ulibarri , the GRM volunteer coordinator at

If volunteer spaces to serve with Gospel Rescue Mission are full, another volunteer opportunity can be found at WORKship. You can’t donate. WORKship takes no money. It never has. You can serve.

The information is pretty simple: Just meet us this (or any) Sunday to help feed the homeless at The Z Mansion at 288 North Church Avenue starting at 7:30 am. Go through the small wrought iron gate and then enter the courtyard through the wooden gate to the left of the Z Mansion entrance. They will put you to work, and you should be done by 11:30 am.

12:00 – 3:30 pm
